1st Generation Live On Krush Groove

Los Angeles radio station KDAY hosted the West Coast old school reunion show, Krush Groove, this past Friday night at the Gibson Amphitheater marking the official introductory performance of the West coast powerhouse group 1st Generation. Comprised of West coast legends Kurupt, Jayo Felony, MC Eiht, Chill, Gangsta, King T, Sir Jinx and DJ Battlecat, 1st Generation is an amalgamation of some of the most critically acclaimed emcee’s and producers in West coast history.

As the inaugural release from the new indie label, Uneek Music is setting the standard of excellence with 1st Generation as the lead project coming from the label. The group is the brainchild of members Tha Chill (Compton’s Most Wanted) and Gangsta, (Tha Comrads) who began reaching out to their circle of friends about reuniting the West and once the word had spread the “Magnificent 7,” as Chill describes them, answered the call. “We wanted to do something massive for the coast.” says Chill, “So we had to figure out which attitudes and talent could mix and make the group work, and once we got off the phone with the homies, we met at Kurupt’s house and made the first song, and all the professional creative ideas meshed and we knew we were on the right track.”

With dynamic producer/DJ Battlecat on board bringing the sound of the West and the art of djing from the infamous KDAY Mixmasters and Uncle Jams Army days, 1st Generation is reflective of the entire culture. The first single “Killing Me Softly” delivers bar after bar of ether as each artist shows how they gained a place in West coast’s multi platinum catalogue of hits.
