2 Live Crew’s Fresh Kid Ice Passed Away

The sad news for the Hip-Hop society continue as AFH informed that 2 Live Crew‘s founding member Fresh Kid Ice passed away at the age of 53. The MC and artist born Christopher Wong Won died 5 days ago in Miami, Florida.
Fresh Kid Ice (a.k.a. Chinaman) is regarded as one of Hip-Hop’s first commercially successful and mainstream recognized Asian MCs. Along with the other 2 Live Crew members, Mr. Mixx, Luke & Brother Marquis, Chinaman received a platinum album & four gold others, including two Top 40 hits – Me So Horny and Banned In The U.S.A..
2 Live Crew are credited as the originators of the Miami bass sound. They had a controversial run in the late 80s and early 90s driven by their sexually charged lyrics. Their 4th studio album Banned In The U.S.A. is the first album to ever receive the parental advisory sticker in 1990.
