555th Dig Of The Day Special: Kris Kross – Da Bomb (1993)

Back with more dopeness for you and yours! Today is a special day – 555th Dig Of The Day, therefore we have a special joint, not as rare as some of the material posted here but definitely one of my favorite joints ever which I still listen to this day, it had a deep influence on me when I heard it for the first time, including the whole Da Bomb album plus Kris Kross at all.

Active from ’91 – 2001, the duo spawned 3 albums and numerous singles. The group consisted of Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith. They were best known for their hit 1992 song Jump, which was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and certified double platinum as a single.

Also, they are the youngest rap duo to gain success, with gold and platinum albums at 11 and 12 years old and have been referenced on the albums or songs by Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Method Man and many others

To me, the way the song is arranged with a unique vibe to it, the beautiful Isaac Hayes sample, the rawness, the whole 9, is just fuckin’ timeless.

Da Bomb was released as a single and is a part of their 2nd album of the same name, released in ’93 on Columbia and Ruffhouse.

Produced by Jermaine Dupri

RIP Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly (1978-2013)
