Bronx Street to be Named in Honor of Scott La Rock

The founding member and DJ/producer of Boogie Down Productions, Scott La Rock lived to enjoy just one album release, 1987’s classic Criminal Minded. August 27 will mark 30 years since Scott was shot and killed in the Bronx, NY. He was the musical partner of KRS-One, the cousin of D-Nice, and the friend to Just-Ice, Greg Nice, DJ Red Alert, one of the first Hip-Hop artists to die amidst rising fame.
Next Friday May 19, the intersection of Jerome Avenue and Kingsbridge Road in Boogie Down Bronx will host a street-naming dedication in Scott La Rock’s honor. This comes just few months after the block of Linden Boulevard and 192th Street in Queens got named Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor Way.
