After releasing 4 major projects 2011, the Hot Spitta is showing he still has a lot left in him for 2012. The one thing I like about Curren$y is that he chooses obscure instrumentals to rhyme over. A couple of the beats he chose for this project had me reminiscing about Hip-Hop’s golden era.

Naughty frontman Treach and Lord Gang’s Doitall are among a newly formed group comprised of some of the state’s best emcees, known as the Garden State Greats (GSG). The group — comprised of Trigger Treach, Doitall, Fam Famiil, Tah G Ali, Prince Ak, B-Wellz 211 and The 0-50 Boyz — have been hard at work over the past several months on their debut mixtape … and it’s finally here. We hooked up with the new group to exclusively debut the tape, titled State Honor, a collection of new tracks from GSG and close collaborators. The debut mixtape boasts 18 brand new songs featuring all members of the group, as well as verses from Tha Advocate, Whodini, and JD Williams (“The Wire”), among others.

M-Phazes drops the first official single for his remix album Phazed Out, which drops digitally on February 14th and on CD on February 28th through Coalmine Records. The single is a remix of Coalmine’s inaugural single “The Raw” which features Saigon, Inspectah Deck and Bekay and includes an updated scratch chorus provided by DJ Boogie Blind (X-ecutioners, Pharoahe Monch). Phazed Out is a compilation of select singles taken from Coalmine’s catalog, remixed by the Aria Award winning M-Phazes and mixed/arranged by DJ Rhettmatic, former DMC West Coast Champion. Guest features on Phazed Out include Heltah Skeltah, CL Smooth, Emilio Rojas, Skyzoo, Sadat X, El Da Sensei, Torae, Brown Bag AllStars, Chubb Rock, DJ Revolution, Mela Machinko, Krondon, Phil The Agony, Mista Sinista & more.

Maybe it’s hard to believe that after 15 years of creating beats and hits for others, Koolade is finally releasing his first album. The famous and best known Croatian hip-hop producer is presenting his debut album – a master piece called “Koolade Beats Rocky”!

The whole idea of this album is in its title, as the inspiration came from the cult movie “Rocky” and the music made by legendary Bill Conti. Koolade played with parts of the soundtrack mixing in the dialogs from the movie and guest features strictly from Philadelphia (where the movie “Rocky” was based) such as Maylay Sparks, Rasheeda B and a former Jay-Z’s associate Peedi Crakk. This album contains 15 tracks, 5 of them are vocal and the rest are instrumentals with parts of conversations from the movie.

The album cover was made by our famous designer Gizmo who lives and works in Hamburg.

Every Sunday night on Sirius/Xm’s “Hip Hop Nation”, DJ Eclipse and Torae
do their show called “Rap Is Outta Control.” On jan 29th, 2012, i filled in for Eclipse
while he was out on the road with La Coka Nostra. This show brings you the best new underground hiphop. I went through a lot of the newer hiphop and tried to pick songs
that i personally liked or appreciate. Nowadays since EVERYONE makes music, there is tons of demos to listen to, mixed in with actual artist and albums. I only play what i like and don’t support some of the nonsense that has infiltrated “underground” hiphop. There is tons of dudes imitating other rappers, tons of producers imitating other producers, etc.. That’s not what hiphop is all about. So on this show i did my best to rock what i thought was worthy or notable. There is lots of newer MCees and still several veterans in the game bringing you good music. When doing a “mix” show, i don’t like playing whole songs, afterall it is a “mix” show. If you like any of these tracks, you can go buy them on itunes or support by buying the CD from sites like ughh.com and fatbeats.com. I’d like to thank Dj Eclipse for doing a show like this with little reward. It’s hard work and you have to deal with several people who complain and harass you, like me. lol. Sett je danas izbacio novi album u obliku besplatnog izdanja. Antiklimaks čine dva CD-a (ili foldera), a detaljnije informacije o albumu potražite u press release-u:

Slavni pisac Mark Twain još je davnih dana napisao: “Ne stavljaj na jedan kompakt disk ono što možeš na dva”.
I bio je u pravu.

Tom se mišlju očito vodio i Sett, čovjek zaslužan za velike disco uspješnice kao što su: “Portret jednog uma” i “Fantazmagorija lelujavosti”.Svoj je novi album naziva “Antiklimaks” zato podijelio na dva jednaka dijela. Kao srce zaljubljeno što se na dva dijela lomi ili pogača što je dobra baka dijeli sa unukom svojim.

Prvi se folder, prepun dragulja, sastoji od malih porcija zvonke radosti koje mjesto nisu pronašle ni na jednom od albuma koje je ovaj nadareni umjetnik, okretni plesač i pasionirani igrač kanaste, izdao tijekom godina svog glazbenog djelovanja. Naravno, tu se nalaze i neke novije pjesme, ali i remixevi za koje se pobrinuo gospodin Matt Davis, čovjek poznat ne samo ljubiteljima stare škole već i navijačima polo kluba sa univerziteta Yale gdje je Matt, ili Dirty Hairy, završio fakultet skreča.

Upravo na tom albumu možete pronaći i vokalne doprinose Generala Wooa, Kandžije, ali i španjolskog umjetnika Alejuandra Buendije.

Drugi je pak folder emocionalni tour de force prepun životnih istina kao što su: “Granica je nebo, mamu sam ti jebo” i “Žene vole gađati štakore”. Epohalno je to djelo i kvintesencijalni album novijeg vijeka, ali u isto vrijeme i posveta afganistanskom hrtu Labradoru kojeg je Sett izgubio baš u vrijeme nastanka ove ploče.

Sett je ovdje ugostio mnoge prijatelje koji su mu bili podrška u tom teškom razdoblju, ali i ljude koji su dijelili njegovu tugu za hrtom koji je nesebično položio život braneći ga od čopora bijesnih lisica koje su ga napale tijekom Međunarodnog sajma knjiga i učila Interliber 2011.Tu se, uz neka već spomenuta imena, nalaze i mladi pjesnik Toxz, kompozitor i dirigent Phezz Beatz, a u nekoliko je navrata ugostio i 3ki Stila s kojim je prije dvije godine napisao maestralno ostvarenje “Krankšvester”. Djelo koje su kritičari jednoglasno proglasili “albumom”.

Ukratko, “Antiklimaks” je za hip-hop ono što je motika za domobrana, more za liječnika ili tabure za čaplju – nešto što je nemoguće razdvojiti bez ozbiljnih posljedica.

Directed by award-winning documentarian Amir Bar-Lev (The Tillman Story, My Kid Could Paint That), RE:GENERATION follows these five DJs/producers as they re-imagine music collaborating with influential artists from rock, R&B, classical, country and jazz genres including: NAS, Members of The Doors, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Martha Reeves, LeAnn Rimes, Dr. Ralph Stanley, The Berklee Symphony Orchestra, Zigaboo Modeliste, The Funk Brothers, Trobone Shorty and Members of The Dap Kings. They use their talent and technology to mix musical styles and generations for the creation of five original tracks that are nothing short of magical.

All the songs created in the film have been made available via YouTube, garnering attention from the likes of Entertainment Weekly, USA Today and RollingStone.com. Now, they can be obtained digitally as a free download along with special remixes: “Breakn’ A Sweat,” created by five-time Grammy nominee (including “Best New Artist”) Skrillex and Members of the Doors, has been remixed by Zedd; Ninja Tune artist Bonobo lends his talents to Mark Ronson’s “A La Modeliste”; Apathy, who has collaborated with DJ Premier in the past for “Stop What Ya Doin,” remixes “Regeneration”; The Crystal Method’s “I’m Not Leaving” featuring Martha Reeves and The Funk Brothers gets a new treatment from Motor City native Static Revenger; and Pretty Lights remixes his own “Wayfaring Stranger” with an updated twist highlighting LeAnn Rimes’ original vocal.
