Pioneering college hip hop radio jocks Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito sit down on the couch for an interview with rap scholar Chairman Jefferson Mao, touching down on the beauty of unprofessional radio and the joy of igniting careers for countless artists like Jay Z, Nas, and Mobb Deep.

1. Kako si odabrao ime Blackout, je li to zbog onog legendarnog nestanka struje u New Yorku 1977.?

6. Kako vidiš budućnost scene?

SLJEDECIH 5 GODINA VIDIM KAO IZAZOV. INTENZITET SCENE SE ODRŽAVA PODRŽAVANJEM KULTURE – KUPOVANJEM KARATA I DOLASKOM NA SVE KONCERTE, KUPOVANJEM CD-A DOMACIH IZVODJACA, SLUSANJEM RADIJSKIH EMISIJA I NAJBITNIJE NEHEJTANJEM!

We are joined suited and booted by The Godfathers Kool G Rap and Necro for a 2 hour journey into their upcoming album. In this meeting, KGR and his new found partner in rhyme Necro sit down at the CWR table, offering a open and candid exploration into the creation and formulation of The Godfathers, citing each others work as a major influence throughout its recording. In addition, we discuss the parallels of Necro and Marley Marl’s chemistry with G Rap, competition, including what could have become a beef between Juice Crew’s Craig G and Necro many years ago, sampling, re-creating Kool G Rap and DJ Polo’s 1990 classic Men At Work, Domingo, dirty raps, politics and much more in a must hear podcast with two of Hip Hop’s biggest bosses. We debate the now deceased SOPA and still threatening PIPA governmental laws, analysing the record industry as the real Illuminati.

Large Professor is, quite simply, one of the most important hip-hop producers to ever touch the SP-1200. Mentored by the late, great “golden era” studio wizard Paul C, already having worked with Rakim and Kool G Rap while still a teenager, this master craftsman’s most beloved music all but defines New York’s classic purist aesthetic. His signature sound would evolve two-fold through the ’90s. On the one hand, Extra P was amongst the first rap maestros (along with brethren in beats, Pete Rock) to harness the frantic collage style associated with the Bomb Squad and Prince Paul in a more soulfully straightforward context – creating the intricately arranged ghetto symphonies of Main Source’s superb 1991 debut, Breaking Atoms. On the other, P’s ability to manipulate a single workhorse sample – as exemplified by Nas’ “Halftime” and “It Ain’t Hard to Tell,” A Tribe Called Quest’s “Keep It Rollin’,” and acclaimed remixes for Gang Starr, Slick Rick, Common, and others – exhibited his genius for simplicity. The aughts would see more notable additions to his production discography (Nas’ “You’re Da Man”; Roc Marciano’s UN’s “What They Want”). But what may be most impressive about Large Pro after all these years is his dedication to his trade. As is evidenced by the following varied list of his favorite sample flips, LP is never too professorial to himself study the art of making tracks.

With Eminem sat opposite, we hear how intensive their studio time has been this week, with over 50 songs already laid down featuring a host of high profile producers. As excited as their fans for this release, Crooked I cites this forthcoming Slaughterhouse album as some of the group’s best ever work, with hopes to make a exhibition-style on-record battle track with HRSMN happen soon. We hear how pivotal Eminem is to the process of success for the group, as he sits at the boards mixing down their latest track as the interview proceeds. In addition to this we also discuss how The Horseshoe Gang have developed as a group and how important they are to their mentor Crooked I. A true classic update and an unforgettable piece of Conspiracy history.

Detroit statue Danny Brown was one of the most refreshingly prolific artists of 2011! Accomplished, proud and humble, he joins us on this episode to celebrate and talk the magnitude of his impact in 2011, including some of our favourite releases XXX and Black & Brown!, garnering mainstream media recognition, directing video’s, ambitions of one day writing a Jay-Z Decoded esque book, collaborating with rising UK producer Paul White, blurring the lines between street slang and internet slang, Mr. MF Exquire, Mac Miller, Jack White, new material and more in a info-packed feature, guaranteed to make you watch Danny Brown’ s every move in 2012

An awake and content Copywrite joins us us to discuss his forthcoming LP God Save The King, detailing its content and direction with the revelation that it was initially set to be an album exclusively made for the UK. Filled with a renewed belief and energy in spreading the word of God, we are surprisingly informed that he “doesn’t care about rap..” and that he isn’t fond of the content of his new album beyond two tracks, both of which will reveal a deeper and more religious side of Copywrite. We also talk 2011′s MHZ lost Demo’s and rare freestyle’s compilation as well as the forthcoming MHZ studio release and much more in an interview with a Copywrite you have prior to this never before heard.

Super producer Apollo Brown & Diggin’ In The Crates crew emcee O.C. step on to the show to explore their forthcoming collaborative project Trophies and their chemistry. Conceptualised in New York and recorded entirely in Detroit, Michigan, for the first time im O.C.’s career Trophies see’s him working with one producer in its entirety as well as the first time Apollo Brown has collaborated with a golden age emcee for a full length release. Pioneers and students, these two artists are set to make some of the most reassuring music of 2012, so it was our pleasure to share time with them on the show.

Homeboy Sandman waltzes into the studio, platter in his hands, delivering us food for thought on his forthcoming ep, Subject Matter, which will see its release via Stones Throw Records later this month. Ever eloquent, engaging and thought provoking, Sandman breaks down the subject of his matter and makes the most of mattering as the subject in this interview, breaking down songs off Subject Matter as well as blessing us with an acapella at a Grocery store. Homeboy Sandman is an emcee that matters in 2012 and will continue to matter as his subject resonates with Hip Hop heads across the world! Inspirational listening.

Why do only an increasingly small handful of artists ever seem to really ‘make it’ in the music game? What’s with all the never-ending covering of one eye in all the videos? Why the insistence on rappers having so many pseudonyms? And why is the robotic vocal programme Autotune still being mercilessly rolled out despite everyone you speak to saying they hate it?

In the first of a new series of podcasts for 2012, Mark Devlin talks to world famous author and public speaker David Icke about the agenda being employed in the music industry as one of many, many facets of the global control system. As more and more people awaken to new levels of human consciousness, the controllers are getting ever more desperate to suppress the movement. The music game – and particularly what passes for ‘hip hop’ and ‘R&B’ – is now a much-favoured method of subliminal manipulation.

With names such as Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears being specifically addressed, this will be controversial, and will doubtless upset a few. But the truth will always be the truth, and it’s time certain things were said.

This conversation was recorded in Zagreb during David Icke’s latest visit to Croatia.

One year ago, acclaimed American hip-hop artist Dante Smith – stage name Mos Def – was set to tour Australia for the first time. Eleven shows were booked, including headline festival appearances at Soundscape in Hobart and The Hot Barbeque in Melbourne.
After failing to appear at his first scheduled performance in Adelaide, he went on to randomly skip four shows of the itinerary. Such was the ensuing confusion, that following the postponements, cancellations and sternly-worded press releases from the promoter, Peace Music, became something of a sport at The Vine.

What did those four cancellations mean for Peace Music, though? In late 2011, I contacted the company’s managing director, Sam Speaight, requesting an interview about the logistics of touring American hip-hop artists in Australia.
