Over the past decade, the Eastern European nation of Croatia, “the land of a thousand islands”, has fast risen and grown into one of Europe’s most popular party destinations. Home to renowned house, techno, and bass festivals such as Hideout, Outlook and The Garden Festival, there’s now one in particular that stands out from the rest in this seasonal calendar. Still only in its fourth year, Fresh Island Festival, on the island of Pag, prides itself as Europe’s premier festival for hip-hop and R&B. Previously bringing the likes of A$AP Rocky and Rick Ross to the white pebble coasts of Zrce beach, this year, billboard-topping names included Migos, Action Bronson, Danny Brown and Joey Bada$$, alongside UK grime elite: JME, Big Narstie and Stormzy.

The third and the last day Fresh Island Festival was non-stop party till the early morning, with Tim Westwood, Big Narstie, Cut Killer, Dj Target, Pusha T, Stormzy, Jme and more. Lots of people, positive energy, sweat, wonderful sound & vibe and beautiful sunrise at the end is an excellent way to finish a festival.

Legendary French Dj – Cut Killer was amazing with his great, great set on Papaya stage.

Pusha T started rocking about half an hour earlier it was planned. His fans were, of course, thrilled too see him. Vibe was great during the whole perfomance. Pusha was nailing it with Nosetalgia, Numbers on the Boards, Future‘s Move That Dope and more. He was also spitting on Chief Keef‘s Don’t Like beat. Oh, yeah, he also rapped his verse from Kanye‘s Runaway. Feedback was excellent, as expected. Towards the end, he kept reminding the crowd that We aint done! after each song. He was rocking (only) about 45min, but it was hell of a concert.

Skepta, unfourtunately, couldn’t make it to Fresh Island. BUT! People were more than happy to see and hear his brother JME on Kalypso stage. Him, great Stormzy and the Noisey crew were keeping the wild crowd on their feet till 6am. They were playing various tracks and all of them were perfect for what the people needed – having a great time.

After we had announced the 0 day at Fresh Island Festival‘s Kalypso stage and had an amazing time there, the morning took us to the first official day of the Hip Hop-on-the-beach fest. With numerous parties in the afternoon in Papaya and Aquarius, the vibe was well lit for the rest of the festival. Aquarius saw the Czech and Slovakian crême de la crême of their Hip Hop scene (DJ Wich, Vladimir, Kontrafakt, Majk Spirit) perform, while Papaya was on fire with the amazing Swiss Ladylicious DJs, followed by DJ Ewon from France. With both after beach parties ending at 8 and the festival doors opening at 11, everybody had enough time to get ready for the evening’s chaos. And by chaos, I mean truly amazing, energetic shows by Joey Bada$$, Statik Selektah and Danny Brown.
