This is an interview we did with Hip Hop Pioneer Grandmaster Flash in September of 1996.. It was shortly after 2Pac had been killed.. We started off talking about what Hip Hop was lacking, then Flash lays down the law about what Hip Hop is and isn’t. Then we talk about the recent death of 2Pac and what it means for Hip Hop. GMF also talks to us about the East Coast/ West Coast beef that was happening at the time.. He talks about the early battles they had in Hip Hop with crews like Grand Wizard Theodore and the Fantastic Romantic 5 and later with groups like Lakeside and the Barkays. Flash talks about how he taught Theodore to mix. This is a claim Theodore has vehemently denied. We do know that at one point Flash and Theodore’s older brothers were in a crew called the L Brothers.
