22 years ago, a legendary freestyle session by Big L and Jay Z on beloved underground Hip-Hop radio show from Stretch & Bobbito happened.

In the annals of rap history, an unmistakable paradigm shift happened one night in New York City. From that point on, Jay Z, best known as a disciple of Jaz-O (if known at all), was able to grab ahold of New York radio and never let go. It also affirmed that Big L was one of the genre’s foremost lyricists, a title the deceased rapper retains to this day. That moment was broadcast on February 23, 1995, during The Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show on WKCR.
