DJ Red Alert’s Final 98.7 KISS-FM Show

It was the end of an era Saturday night as Kool DJ Red Alert did his final show on 98.7 KISS FM, the station Red joined all the way back in 1983. After dropping a mix of hip-hop classics and original school breaks, an emotional Red thanked everyone at the station with whom he worked over the years, and bid his listeners a tearful farewell. Ironically enough, the last song of his last mix for the station was Jimmy Castor Bunch’s “It’s Just Begun.”

It was, of course, announced earlier this week that KISS FM will be going off the air Sunday night at midnight – the result of Disney acquiring the station’s frequency in order to broadcast ESPN Radio programming on FM. KISS will merge with long-time rival 107.5 WBLS.
