For those who don’t know who this guy is, Young Guru has been Jay-Z’s sound engineer for more than 10 years and also he’s been one of the most important background figures of the whole Roc-A-Fella movement. But most importantly, he’s a very smart dude who knows music. He rarely does interviews, so this convo with Rap Radar‘s Elliot Wilson is a must see.
Guru speaks on many subjects: being Jay’s DJ for the current BP3 Tour, the process of creating the Blueprint 3 album, Jay’s status as a hip hop mogul and his alleged connections with the Illuminati, his wish to bring back the boom bap and scratch element to music, rumors about the infamous Oh Boy Roc-Dip Set drama, the situation with Gang Starr’s MC with the same name, etc.
Above is part 1, continue reading to watch the rest of the interview.
