This is a great look into the making of “Illmatic”, but more importantly a look at the unique aspects of life and reality beyond hip hop music which can’t ever be duplicated or reproduced. “The Making Of Illmatic” takes you directly into the studio workspace with feature interviews from DJ Premier, Q-Tip, Pete Rock, Large Professor, who give their thoughts about providing the best music to match Nas’ unique vision. The tour continues into the projects of Queensbridge, N.Y where the neighborhood people give their support for Nas as one of the most promising local talents. This documentary is by Ralph McDaniels of Video Music Box, the director of Nas’ first video “It Ain’t Hard To Tell”.
