Run DMC to reunite for a live performance

Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels will perform together as Run-D.M.C. for the first time since 2002 at the Fun Fun Fun Fest, November 2 through 4 in Austin, TX.

The pair had retired the name after the third member of the group, Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell, was murdered. Since that time, the group has received numerous accolades including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

James Moody, the festival’s producer, said in a statement “We couldn’t be more excited. Run-D.M.C. is one of our favorite bands, and one of the most influential groups of all time . . . We never thought that we would get to see [them] play live, much less play in Austin at our festival.”

A portion of the proceeds for the duo’s appearance will be donated to the JMJ Foundation for Music, saluting the late Mizell and providing funds for arts programs for young people.

Festival goers will also see a solo set from McDaniels previewing his upcoming album.
