Video: ScHoolboy Q on Hot 97’s Morning Show

The TDE representative is currently on a promo run in the city and made one of his first media stops to Hot 97’s Morning Show with Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg.

The interview opened up with Q discussing his previous time in the streets of Los Angeles and how music was instrumental in leading to his exit from the dangerous surroundings. Q went on to discuss how his album was complete in 2012 before the release of good kid, m.A.A.d city; but used the entire 2013 to perfect his album.

He also touched on studying Nas and JAY Z’s previous album’s including seeing the creation process behind Kendrick Lamar’s debut opus in studio sessions. Ciph and Rosenberg asked whether there was tension in the camp regarding the lengthy wait of his album’s release, but School ensured everyone was on the same page being more friends than fellow rappers. In comparison to Death Row, Roc-A-Fella and Bad Boy, he cited Wu-Tang Clan as the only similar movement he felt that he could compare TDE to regarding a true bond outside of music.
