Long Beach rapper Vince Staples dropped his debut double album Summertime ’06. A study in artful juxtaposition—an hour-long examination of the contradictions that make the man. His hood nihilism is tempered by astute observations about society and an underlying longing for a better way of life.

He came to prominence with his appearances on albums by Odd Future members and his collaborative mixtape titled Stolen Youth, with fellow American rapper Mac Miller, who produced the entire project. In October 2014, he released his debut EP Hell Can Wait, which included the singles Hands Up and Blue Suede. His debut album, Summertime ’06, is scheduled to be released on June 30 this year.

Produced by No I.D., DJ Dahi, Clams Casino and Christian Rich.
